As being the technical manpower voxel team was involved in immediate, post earthquake relief. Besides, Helping in the immediate need, as a member of Nepal engineers association, the team was involved in “rapid visual damage assessment” RVDA through out different places of valley including the mostly affected balaju and sitapila area.
The team was very much shocked by seeing the ill practices, in the construction and level of unawareness of the public and masons. Very simple mistakes such as proper beam and column joints, grade of degraded cement, etc was found.
The team, after then was involved in detailed damage assessment of buildings affected by earthquake of April 25, 2015.
The team suggested various retrofit and repair technique and recommended professional structural advice as well.
The team was then mostly involved in providing technical support in the construction of technical shelters for the earthquake victims, as we thought this was the immediate support we could provide. Together with the the team of young professional from pulchowk engineering college and student of architecture, Ashraya, we installed and helped to install a cgi sheet temporary shelter, so well designed, that it would only cost NRS 15,000/- and would use debris from fallen structure and would take only 2 hours for the installation of each unit.
We as a team volunteered in constructing several shelters in, Kavre, Bhaktapur, Nnuwakot, Dhading and Tanahau.
