Tara meditation Monastery, a typical design for Kathmandu and Sindhupalchowk

The program was to construct a lightweight, open and transparent meditation hall, that looked like a traditional gumba structure, yet with modern glazing and steel structure, to keep the project within the budget (NRS 60,00,000/-) (as of Dec 2018) Yet retaining the quality of the structure.

The outer plinth has been derived from the lotus petal structure and moon circle. The ground floor is a fully open meditation hall, influx with light from all the sides and sunlight from the top, creating a Simple yet, spiritual space.

The ground is the hall, which gets lights and energy from the 2nd tier – sky and ultimately, the third tier – heaven.
